Summer fun continues

The Charlton Community Trust's Summer Slam schedule is well under way and recently included a visit to the Medway Festival of Sport.

The Charlton Community Trust's Summer Slam schedule is well under way

The event involved primary and secondary schools across Medway participating in events such as the Mini-World Cup, marking the climax of both the Secondary School Games and Mini-Youth Games competitions which have been running throughout the 2009/10 academic year.

The programme was well received by the youngsters, with Summer Slam co-ordinator Freddie Ruby stating: "The Medway event has been fantastic; so many young people from across the area have joined in and are now extremely keen to find out where and when the next events will be."

Over the summer months, Addicks community staff will be bringing free football fun and goodie bags to dozens of venues across Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley and Kent as part of the Summer Slam programme.

This Saturday, the team will be present at Greenwich Involvement Day, Greenwich Park, Bandstand Field, Blackheath Entrance, from 11am-4pm.

Meanwhile, the trust's Toddlers Soccer programme is now being held at Bromley's Pavilion Leisure Centre on Thursdays from 10-11am and 5-6pm.

Toddlers Soccer is a fun-based concept aimed at three to four-year-olds, and encourages all aspects of mental and physical development using football.

Every activity is intended to improve motor skills, balance, coordination and agility in a fun and playful, but also educational, atmosphere.

The programme is seen a natural progression to the Charlton Challenge, which starts in the Bromley area in September for children aged five and upwards.

Places on Toddlers Soccer can be booked by calling Pavilion Leisure Centre on 020-8313 9911 or by emailing pavilion@bromleymytime.org.uk
