Compensation agreed for McGinty move

More of story 1

Charlton will receive compensation from Manchester United after the Premier League champions signed 15-year-old defender Sean McGinty on Friday.

The promising centre-half, who has been with the club for three years, was offered scholarship terms with the Addicks this summer. But with the Red Devils having tracked him for some time, he has opted to switch to Old Trafford.

The heat is on

The weather may be cooling as the weekend approaches, but there has been no relenting in the players' efforts as the club's first full week of pre-season training comes to a close.

Throughout the searing heat the Addicks players have been completing a series of gruelling exercises under the watchful eye of head of sports science Nick Davies and manager Phil Parkinson.

The players returned from their summer breaks at the end of the previous week to take part in a series of tests to gauge their level of fitness prior to the start of the preparations for 2009/10. More of story 2
